About the production

A full production, a real stage, and a whole summer of growth — Summer of The Lion King welcomes first-timers and seasoned young performers alike, building skills through rehearsal and ending with the curtain up.

Registration is split into two age divisions — ages 8–13 and ages 14–18 — so coaching and material fit each group. Choose your division below to register.

July 18, 20, 22, 23, 24 & 25 at the Electric Theater. Curtains at 5:00 & 7:00 PM.
Sensory-friendly: July 20 at 5:00 PM · ASL-interpreted: July 23 at 5:00 PM.

Come ready to share your voice. Here's exactly what to bring to the audition.

For your audition

No experience necessary — just come prepared with the following:

  • 16 bars of a song (about 45–60 seconds) that showcases your voice.
  • A headshot — a recent photo is fine.
  • A resume of any past performance or training experience (optional for first-timers).

Pick the division that matches your performer's age. You'll complete a short registration form to reserve an audition slot.

Performed at the historic Electric Theater

Performances are staged at the Electric Theater, a 1911 downtown St. George landmark and the first motion picture theater in southern Utah — Encore's home since 2021. (Rehearsals are held at St. George Academy.)

Who can audition?
Performers ages 8–18 of all experience levels. Registration is split into two divisions — ages 8–13 and ages 14–18 — and auditions are held May 14, 2026 at the Electric Theater.
What is the rehearsal commitment?
Rehearsals run June 1 through July 18, 2026, Monday through Friday, at St. George Academy. Note that rehearsals are at a different location than the performances, which are at the Electric Theater.
What should I prepare for the audition?
Prepare 16 bars (about 45–60 seconds) of a song that showcases your voice, and bring a headshot and resume. No prior experience is required.
How much is the participation fee?
A participation fee applies to take part in the production. Multi-performer discounts are available and scholarships can help cover the cost. All fees are non-refundable. See the full breakdown on our participation fee page.
When and where are the performances?
Performances are July 18, 20, 22, 23, 24 and 25, 2026 at the Electric Theater, with curtains at 5:00 and 7:00 PM. The sensory-friendly performance is July 20 at 5:00 PM; the ASL-interpreted performance is July 23 at 5:00 PM. Tickets are $15.
