About Aspire

A show choir for every age

Aspire Performing Co. is Encore's audition-based show choir, where singers and dancers come together as one performing ensemble. Members learn vocal parts and choreography side by side, building the kind of stage presence and teamwork that only comes from performing as a group.

Because Aspire is all-ages, performers from age 5 through high school senior train and perform together, grouped by age and experience. Throughout the season, the company appears at Encore productions, community events, and showcases around southern Utah.

FAQ

Questions about Aspire

Everything families ask about joining the show choir, auditions, and rehearsals.

What ages do you cast in Aspire?
Aspire can accommodate ages 5–18. Please note that high school graduates are not eligible to participate as a performer.
How does casting work?
Casting at Aspire is about more than talent — it’s about building well-balanced, cohesive teams where every performer can thrive. Each of our five Aspire groups is carefully curated to reflect a mix of ages, skill levels, vocal ranges, and even height when needed. Just like assembling a sports team, we consider how individual strengths come together to support the group as a whole. Being placed in a particular group is not a ranking of ability — it’s about matching each performer to the group where they can contribute meaningfully and grow confidently. No matter where you’re placed, you’re an important part of the Aspire family.
What is the cost to participate?
Tuition is typically around $395 per semester. Payment plans and limited scholarships are available to help make the program accessible to all families.
Do you offer scholarships to help cover the registration cost?
Yes. Encore and Aspire want to welcome as many young performers as possible and don’t want finances to be a barrier. We have a few scholarships available each semester, so apply early. You can apply here.
I heard you take the group on trips — is that true?
Yes. We’ve taken our groups to California, Disneyland, and on cruises to perform. There are always new performance opportunities for our groups.
What’s the difference between Aspire and other Encore programs?
Aspire is focused on vocal and show-choir-style performance rather than full musical theater productions. It includes ensemble work, choreography, and concert-style showcases.
How often does Aspire rehearse?
Rehearsals are typically held once a week during each semester, with additional rehearsals scheduled closer to performance dates.
What does the audition involve?
Auditions are relaxed and fun. Performers sing a short section of a song and learn a simple movement combination. No previous experience is required.
Is there a performance at the end of the semester?
Yes. Each Aspire group prepares a themed performance showcased at a professional venue for friends, family, and the community.
There are lots of performances scheduled — do I need to be at each one?
Yes. We ask that every performance and every rehearsal be attended by each performer.
What is Illuminate?
Illuminate is Aspire’s advanced touring ensemble. Members are selected by audition and take on more challenging material and additional performance opportunities, often including travel.
Do I need to participate in the Fall season to join Illuminate in the Spring?
It is strongly preferred that those who intend to participate in Aspire’s Illuminate Touring Company (Fall thru Spring season) participate in the Fall, including for Villains Night. If there are enough participants to fulfill the available spots for the Fall program, which there usually are, then anyone not participating in the Fall program will generally not be allowed to participate in Illuminate in the Spring. This includes and is not limited to individuals who participated in previous show choir programs in prior years.
