Color, Community, and Collaboration: Encore at the Kayenta Fun Run

This spring, members of the Encore Performing Arts leadership team and a group of our amazing young artists had the chance to participate in one of our favorite local traditions—the Kayenta Center for the Arts Fun Run. For the second year in a row, we had a blast managing a water station and tossing colorful chalk at runners participating in the 5K. But more than that, we were thrilled to be out supporting another incredible arts organization right here in our community.

At Encore, we believe that the arts are strongest when we work together. Events like these give us the chance to stand shoulder to shoulder with other local groups who share our mission: to inspire, uplift, and connect people through the power of creativity. Supporting the Kayenta Center for the Arts is just one of the many ways we try to give back and show up for the broader artistic community of Southern Utah.

But what made the event even more special was the chance for our Encore youth to take the lead. Whether they were tossing chalk, cheering on runners, or helping pass out water bottles, our young volunteers dove into the fun with big smiles and even bigger hearts. We love creating these kinds of experiences—not just to serve, but to teach our youth the joy that comes from looking beyond themselves and being part of something bigger.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about throwing powder and wearing bright colors (though that was awesome too!). It’s about creating moments of connection, building community, and sharing joy—values that are at the heart of everything we do at Encore.

A big thank you to the Kayenta Center for the Arts for having us again. We’ll see you at the next one!
